Burnout often followed by intense revelation, anyone else?
Hey guys,
Do you usually have burnouts followed by intense revelations? I haven’t read any discussion on this topic, but I feel like personally, I often have intense revelation/insight into things after a period of restlessness and burnouts.
I had a massive burnout before having the revelation that I was on the autism spectrum. When I finally found a psychologist, the burnout disappeared and I started fixating on autism knowledge and felt alive again. This pattern seems to be pretty common for my other burnouts.
It makes me wonder if it’s just how some Austie process things - we tend to absorb all information at once leading to a burnout, but when our brains have enough space to process, we end up with surprising big answers that others might not notice normally.
Please let me know if you feel the same and share your experience with me, thank you~

I think burnout leads to thinking more deeply out of desperation. It also could be mania. I know i've experienced revelations during burnout-induced mania. and Without. Recently, I had the relevation that i'm causing most of my suffering.

I feel the same way about burnouts - information gets overwhelming leading to a burnout, but if given time to process it new answers will appear.
This started happening to me about 10 years ago just a couple years before I was diagnosed with autism. I had a massive panic attack that lasted a couple hours due to living somewhere I wasn't comfortable and being overworked. Through this I had the revelation I wanted to do more for the community and get my life back on track. I created goals for myself, took a step back from work, and volunteered for causes I cared about. Just by leaving my toxic living environment and pursuing things I cared about I started to see the world differently and my values began to change. I became a lot less materialistic and fixated on trivial things.
Now that I am aware of my autism and have learned to better cope with anxiety I am aware of burnout and when I get to that point. Whenever I find myself in a burnout state I know I will come to some new revelations such as a creative approach to a problem at work, another hobby I want to pursue, or a different way I want to structure my routine.
