Blocked toilet . Cleaner due tomorrow. She hangs the washing I do every Monday on the clothes horse . Have asked s/daughter to tell her not to come tomorrow . It might be easy to sort but I've gone into embarrassed/hyper anxious/self disgusted/wanting a giant floating mouth to swallow me whole mode.

Yes. One thing at a time, logistics require deep breaths. One reason I didn't do so well on my living skills part of the assessment.

I'm otherwise "high functioning" until I have to schedule something. Once it's scheduled, life is great, but scheduling, re-scheduling... difficult.

Teasing: Isn't there something about AS folks preferring routine, and not blocked toilets situations? That could have been the exact question on the life skills test...

Inconsistently.
In my own case, routines and predictability barely factored.

My default is not to panic though, most especially when alone.

With anyone else, with any expected outcomes either from myself or others? I wouldn't know.
It's even more likely others gets pissed off by not being worried enough than panicking.

Either ways, I'd rather had the means to move onto the solutions than to be stuck in any way or form.
Panic or no panic, I hate having short mental reaches or whatever blocks my means of recall and execution.

To me *and* perhaps to me as I figured, it's about my resource control and control over focus.
Without the resources and the means to control my focus, panic or no panic may as well be irrelevant to my reactions and outcomes.

No, I'm good at dealing with change. Not much can phase me anymore. I'm pretty flexible, atleast i think so.

Yup, my instinct is to panic, I noticed that if this panic escalates I am done for...

Even more things start going wrong, as my brain, well I don't know where it goes, but it buggers off somewhere and leaves me alone with the problem and then I end up with a three ring circus level of problems that blindside me for maybe days or weeks afterwards. I jest a little, but only a wee bit :jester:

So I try really hard to allow the panic subside before I even start thinking about how to solve the problem.
I think I have just found a valid reason for procrastination 8)

Aspergers usually allows greater performance as a result of greater focus. However, the focus usually comes as a result of an attenuation of peripheral attention. In a panic or melt down, anxiety can overwhelm focus and leave one floundering.

While not every contingency can be anticipated and planned for, having options or plans when things "go south" can be helpful. It sounds like you have "s/daughter" resources which can be invaluable.

I remember panicking at the beginning of the lockdown when there were literally no delivery slots online for groceries and there were no food or toilet rolls in the stores. I just lost it and went into panic mode. I started shouting and swearing, then threw myself on to the bed and cried and cried. That's what I do when I'm in panic mode (probably a meltdown in other words). I just don't know what else to do.
