Hi everyone,

I've been waiting for 4+ years for my autism appointment and earlier on today I got my letter for my autism appointment which will be done by video call or telephone call, I got the letter sent off with my details as it needed to be in by the 10th of September 2020, so at least hopefully that will take place ASAP, rather than waiting another few months.

That sounds like good news, congratulations. May I ask, does this mean you've had to wait 4 years for an appointment to get a diagnosis?

That's a long time to have to wait. Glad you got your appointment though

Yes, the reason why the long wait is because in 2017, our government fell through due to arguments about a scandal that the now First Minister was involved in, but our government only got back on its feet this year, so for three years we have had no functioning government so the health service and education sector had been severely struggling with civil servants having to take over the running of our government due to this scandal, the health service is only catching up on the ASD diagnostic appointments from the last 4+ years now due to not being able to because of what happened to our government, but now because of the current pandemic we’re in, the ASD diagnostic appointments are only by telephone call or video call.

It's horrible that it affected the public this severely. I hope you have a good appointment!
