Probably it would be a good thing for me, because no matter how hard I may try to pretend otherwise, people can tell right away that something's up with me, and due to selective mutism and sometimes going nonverbal (which are two separate things to me, although they both have the same result), I can't always explain what. Of course, now I usually have a standard poodle with me, with "autism service dog" in big letters on his vest - I'm pretty sure that gets the message across
