Is intellectual disability kind of like dementia?


I have very bad memories when it comes to doing and knowing how to do simple math.

My poor memories is caused by unknown genetic, mutations and deficiencies or environmental factors.


I have Learning Disorders and borderline intellectual functioning.




I am sorry for being confused, it’s just having poor memories is a core symptom of dementia.

One of my symptom of Learning Disorders and borderline intellectual functioning includes poor memories, such as dyscalculia.

Dementia is a disease of the brain that a person can develop later on in life (the earlier the age, the rarer it is; the later the age, the more common it is). Intellectual disability is usually something one is born with (or may develop after a serious head injury).
Intellectual disability and dementia are not the same thing but can have similar symptoms and behaviours.

I don't think you can be born with dementia, or if you can it's extremely rare and probably has a different name for it.
