Can I join the military, even though I have history of severe ASD from my early childhood?
Joining the military was always my dream, but my old IEP reports stated that I have very low IQ and SARC states that I have borderline intellectual functioning.
I used to have profound learning disorders, borderline intellectual functioning, severe communication delays, developmental Prosopagnosia, speech delay, delusions, hallucinations, painful sensory issues, bizarre behaviors, frustrations and sometimes used to have self injurious behaviors from my early childhood.
I still have the same symptoms and thoughts from my early childhood, it’s just very mild.
I also developed social skills much later than usual.
My symptoms got milder when I received special education and IEPs.
As an adult, I became very good at reading and understanding emotions, facial cues and body languages.
My symptoms of ASD used to be so severe to the point where I was suppressed and/or had difficulty expressing emotions from my early childhood.
Starting at age nine, my bizarre interests turned into specific subjects of interest, often manifesting as a borderline obsession with a few areas and/or hobbies.
I was psychotic from my early childhood.
That is why I have a history of being diagnosed with Mental Retardation Unspecified, borderline intellectual functioning, learning disorders, PDD-NOS and Autistic Disorder.
