Hello,

Moved to DG4 area Scotland in 2019. Autistic 50+ with MH (mental health) trouble sometimes(not currently) Have many questions, can someone help:

Would like to discuss relevant stuff in more detail with autistics/their partners family/friends anyone who actually knows them on any websites/newsletters printed or online/forums/groups/phone lines run by/for other autistics/partners/friends etc in Scotland /Cumbria/North UK

Please NO autism/MH organisations or replies from anyone working/volunteering or in any way employed or acting on behalf of any suchlike as I can easily find any official funded or charitable stuff online if needed and capable of doing searches also.

I have limited access and time on computer so really would appreciate if just autistics/those who know from experience would reply. Please.

Also if possible please would prefer info re groups/sites etc that are still around and replying to emails/messages that you've contacted recently.

Any up to date info gratefully received.

I appreciate how stressed and busier all of us are.

Hope you all are well and stay so.

I do not have any information specific to Scotland. However, I did travel from Edinburgh to Glasgow in 1994.

For a staring point on Asperger information I usually recommend the Youtube videos of Tony Attwood. and the pdf booklet Aspergers an Intentional life which can be downloaded form the link below.

Welcome, ephemerol9!

Like timf, I have no information specific to Scotland the Brave.  However, you might do well to google YouTube videos by Temple Grandin...

Wikipedia wrote:
Mary Temple Grandin (born August 29, 1947) is a prominent proponent for the humane treatment of livestock for slaughter and author of more than 60 scientific papers on animal behavior.  She is a consultant to the livestock industry on animal behavior, and an autism spokesperson.  She is one of the first individuals on the autism spectrum to document the insights she gained from her personal experience of autism.  She is currently a faculty member with Animal Sciences in the College of Agricultural Sciences at Colorado State University.

In the 2010 Time 100, an annual list of the 100 most influential people in the world, she was named among those in the "Heroes" category.  She was the subject of the Emmy- and Golden Globe-winning semi-biographical film Temple Grandin.  Grandin has been an outspoken proponent of the autism rights and neurodiversity movements.

For some reason, I get the feeling that the Original Poster likes philosophy.

There are many of philosophical bent in places like Scotland. Have you (OP) looked into sites which discuss philosophy without people getting all bent out of shape over it?

I think WrongPlanet is a good Site. Especially if you realize that if somebody seeks to knock you down, that person has a problem, not you.
