Last night, I was so very happy, I found out I'm getting my Maizy cat back, the one I adopted last year and gave away... My cousin was going to bring her over this morning...

I got up waiting for my cat... Looked through my job boards and saw a fully funded and salaried research Graduate program... So I sent them a quick email, linking my resume and transcripts...

I got a quick response back, this program is based at William and Mary College in Virginia, but the research is in.... Australia??? They are studying Mercury poisoning in urban House Sparrows... They are interested in me...

But then I waited and waited for the cat... Nothing. I found out later my cousin got busy and is bringing her tomorrow.

Then my aunt said she knew someone that could take me to the store... When we got back home however he demanded gas money... I only had food stamps and not much cash... He chewed me out saying that I owe him...

Then I drop my eggs in the parking lot and almost fell down... They started laughing... I had a total Meltdown!! ! Yelled not nice things at them...

Then in my apartment I typed this story up, but got attacked by people saying I was in the wrong for not paying them... Which made me feel like crap...

Then my Uncle messages me, trying to bribe and guilt trip me into taking in his grandson and his girlfriend again... But well, the girl is pregnant now too!

I flat out said no and he got angry, then stopped talking to me...

Ummmmmmmmmmmm.... I'm tired, lol!

I think the problem was having no clarification before you got the ride. It seems like your aunt presented this person as doing you a favor, not has someone who will drive you for reimbursement.

My friend is having car trouble so I give her a ride home from work sometimes as a favor. But when I'm short on cash, I tell her ahead of time, hey can you give me $10 for gas and I'll take you home the next 4 days. We agreed on this before she ever got in the car and all was well. She was totally fine with it because I let her know ahead of time that I couldn't afford gas for extra travel. But I didn't spring it on her after the fact.

But presenting yourself as someone who is helping out then demanding money afterwards is misrepresenting their intentions. So no, I don't think you were in the wrong. If you had been informed ahead of time you could have made the decision to get another ride, uber, get delivery, or wait until another day.

I hope you were able to save at least some of the eggs.

Imagine if you were able to go to Australia!

Most of my days cycle frequently between these extremes. It is exhausting.

Good for you for turning down your uncle’s request. Good job. Keep up the good work.

Take a deep breath...Inhale, exhale...Some days are extremely difficult for all...NTs inclusive (Me)...About your uncle been mad at you...And how you hope he stays mad...I agree with you 100 %...Sometimes, it is for our own protection to keep a healthy distance from some relatives prone to take advantage of nice people...My best regards...God bless you...

The advert says no GRE required this admission cycle. That is a plus if you are not a good test taker. The start date is listed as 8/2021. That is almost a year away.

I had a wonderful time in my master’s program and spent several summers taking classes at a field station. I loved it.

Going to Australia seems like a marvelous opportunity. I’d be a little disappointed to work with house sparrows, though.

But it would worth it for the Laughing Kookaburras, Galas, Australian Magpies, Wedge-tailed Eagles, etc...

I am sorry about the many bad things that happened to you today Angnix. I would be very upset.

I am interested in hearing more about the mercury poisoning in house sparrows. Which type of mercury are the dealing with (organic or metal)? How do they get it in their system?

It sounds like an exciting opportunity!

I also think I lucked out because they cancelled the GRE requirement because of the pandemic closed down the testing centers...
