So to name a few of my literary heroes: Jules Verne, Wilkie Collins, Harlan Ellison, Conan Doyle, Oda Eiichiro, Henry James (yes, I love Henry James and I don't care who makes fun of me for it 8O ), Ranpo Edogawa, Jane Austen, Alexandre Dumas, Franz Kafka...
Speaking of Jane Austen, there is a book called "So Odd a Mixture
Along the Autistic Spectrum in 'Pride and Prejudice'":

I haven't read it, but I suppose it may be an interesting read for autistic fans of Jane Austen's works.

No heroes per se.

In retrospect, the people who helped me the most were:

1) My parents, who taught me the skills I needed in order to do well in school (academically, at least), once I finally learned to talk at age 4.

2) Whoever it was that gave my parents a hand-me-down piano (they could not have afforded a piano on their own), -- which I figured out how to play by ear, at around the same time I finally learned to talk.

My dad. He's actually considered a national hero, but he was my hero first.

Do you still play the piano?
