i had a pre-booked appointment with the hairdressers this month but now its lockdown its obviously not going to happen
but yesterday i had a shutdown about something and had to even call in sick at work, but then the hairdressers rang a few times but when i have one my shutdowns i just cannot answer the phone at all (other autistics on here must understand?

anyway they havent rang back since and we are in lockdown now so its not worth ringing them back if there closed and i hate ringing people anyway
but im just thinking, why cant they leave a message or an email as they have my email address if they cant get hold of me via phone call? i have always communicated to them via email before , like when i booked my appointments

do you think it wouldnt be that urgent otherwise they would have left a message or a sent an email? i do hate phonecalls do you ?

People are too lazy to write, and often only have a crappy little "keyboard" available. I don't like using the 'phone, but I absolutely hate it when I have to deal with my 'phone company. Even they don't make it convenient. To find out what I'm spending, I typically have to listen to an advertising loop for a quarter hour.

Here the phone is almost enemy territory , if they are on the caller id . Chances are my machine will screen them out ,
Or let them ring through. Where then second layer screening comes into play and phone will make preprogrammed decisions on how to deal with the caller . Much prefer email or short texting if need be .
Don’t mind phones too much ,it’s just the party on the other side I mind.

Cos they're the opposite of aspie and they want a chat

If landline rings in my home it tends to be sales. From people we don't know - cold calling.

Nobody calls me.

I give them parental details if they're that kind of person, eg a hairdresser or a shop etc (with permission! Always get permission! This is probably not an option for most adults).

Everyone on my phone is related to me and texts.

My auntie forgets I have a dumb phone and sends me a bunch of emojis and they come up like squares. Then gets defensive when I remind her.
