My mum knows a woman in her 50s (they've known each other a long time) who has been diagnosed with terminal cancer, and she said she rocks backwards and forwards when alone, because of all the fear and anxiety that cancer brings. She said that she never rocked, or even thought about rocking, before, and I know she's definitely NT.

Also I remember one of the most popular girls at high school had a panic attack just before sitting her exam, and the teacher had to take her to the other side of the room and get her a glass of water. When she sat down she had her head in her hands and was rocking backwards and forwards while the teacher was quietly talking to her to calm her down. I'd never seen her rock before, and she never rocked again after that. After the exam I asked her if she was all right and she said "I am now, I just don't know what came over me back there, I just felt really worked up about the test and got into a panic." She was definitely NT but it is commonly known for teenagers to panic about their exams.

And please refrain from saying "are you sure these people are definitely NTs?" because...you know...I knew these people more than anyone here knows them and not everybody is an Aspie in disguise.

So anyway, has anyone else seen an NT rock during an emotional overload?

NTs rock from being overloaded emotionally all the time. Most of them just don't have an overall sensory processing issue and are better equipped to handle stress, so they may rarely or never be in a situation where they will experience the need to rock past infancy/toddlerhood. NTs also stim when bored or anxious (tapping pencils against desks, bouncing their leg, etc.) but it's not the same type or as intense as autistic people.
