40 yr old autistic man wanting to learn on here

I learned I had autism when I was 38 and found this Forum by chance, Id love t o ask questions on here and learn about autism and if people have the same symptoms I have and to learn about this more, can people here help with my questions and learn more about this problem

I’m aspergers and am willing to try to answer any questions you may have.
Don’t look on autism as a problem, it is neurodiversity, a different way of looking at the world.

You can also browse around to find your similar manifestations here. Sometimes, I don't even recognize something until someone else has described it. I used to use a checklist to try to identify my emotions, and it was variations in my speedometer readings that first alerted me to periodic anger.

Anything you want to know feel free to ask.

I used to do this too. But more often than not, the emotion I came up with was "I don't know".

A list of my autistic traits, I may accidentally miss some out and some have faded.

Fits of explosive self injurious rage, the severity depending on level of distress.
Various obsessive special interests through out my life.
Swimming - self soothing by rocking, fidgeting etc.
Ability to sing absolute pitch, ability to draw and paint realistically.
Rambling on.
Failing to pick up on social cues.
Saying the wrong thing.
Failure to reciprocate favours done for me.
Easily manipulated, gullible, naive for my age,
Delayed responses in speech, especially in confrontational situations.
Social awkwardness.
Prefer to be alone.
Masking my behaviour and trying to be something I am not before I knew of aspergers.
Wanting to fit in but failing to do so.
Clumsiness.
There are no doubt more, but I cannot think of them - I don’t know if missing things off lists is an autistic trait, I just can’t think of anymore right now.

Shalom. I just learned I was on spectrum 2 yearsish ago. I'm happy to pass on what I've learned this past year especially. The first few months I was on here I just read other people's stories and learned a lot and had many light bulb moments about myself. These lead to a lot of research etc.

Austicmanlet34 many of the traits that you identified are common for Aspies/High Functioning Autistics.

Most of what you have gone through more than a few of us have probably gone through also.

welcome, this forum is so useful because we have so many experienced people here to help give us insight and share ideas that have worked for them, and to learn from each other.

I was diagnosed at 36, so I'm in a similar situation.... Possibly the most helpful thing about this site is the sheer variety of people on here. Previously, I had a very stereotypical idea of what autistic people were like, and it didn't really resemble myself.
