Hello ASD folks
Some time ago I wrote to various UK doctors to see if there were any resources which i could refer my doctor to, to give them a basic overview of ASD and the issues that may arise during the treatment process.

After some searching I was referred by Dr Carol Buckley, who compiled the following ASD toolkit, originally for the UK's health service otherwise known as the NHS.

Now I cant remember if i posted a reference to this before on this forum, I apologise if i did.
Also, I apologise if I have posted this in the incorrect area of this forum. Again, no bad intentions.
Just don't always know where to post. Hope no one is offended, and if it is in the wrong place,
moderators / admin, please feel free to move it.

As for the ASD toolkit. Now this is a series of documents (mainly), which have been developed in order to help health professionals get their head around ASD. The toolkit includes all sorts of useful stuff including how to adapt your environment so that it is ASD friendly.

I recommend all ASD folk to print off a copy of the letters / leaflets and give them to their doctor / psychiatrist.
As this may help the health professionals get their head around ASD quicker, and perhaps even get some
doctors to make changes to their practices / consulting room so that their consultancy rooms do not cause distress to their patients.

It may also prevent doctors from subjecting their patients to psychological abuse without even knowing (due to ignorance, due to lack of knowledge of the condition that you and i suffer from!! !)

so... feel free. as it is free. and may very well save you a lot of distress!
good luck

ASD toolkit
