OK, I wasn't sure how to word the title. At the end of some adverts there is the advert presenter saying additional information and they say it in that fast way, like "formoreinformation ontheproductvisitwwwdotXYZdotcodotukforwardslashXYZtermsandconditionsapply...." and sometimes it goes on and on in that fast, flat tone. The longer it babbles on for the more angry and frustrated I get and I have to change the channel even if it's just for a few seconds until I think it's finished. Other times I yell at the TV or radio to shut up.

Does this annoy anyone else? (And don't say "no but people who yell at the TV to shut up would annoy me" or something).

Time is money, hence the fast-talking.

Television viewers who are easily annoyed by those fast talking disclaimers at the end TV spots really should...consult

a doctor.

And then ask that doctor to prescribe the drug...Relaxathon... so that they can ... continue to enjoy their TV

watching calmly and serenely--- even during fast talking announcements!

Relaxathon CHANGED MY LIFE... it will change yours. :D

Note: use of Relaxathon is not recommended for pregnant women, nor for women who may get pregnant...be sure to call a physician if you get premature baldness, a third eyeball growing in your forehead, feelings of depression, and thoughts of homocide, or of suicide, or ...have a sudden urge to indulge in risky addictive behaviors like drinking, taking drugs, gambling, or sky diving,...may cause cancer, dengue fever, dementia, psychosis, manic depression, adhd, autism,or make you more suseptible to catching the Covid virus, and....

The fast talking at the end are legal disclaimers they are required to have, or at least their lawyers decided are necessary to be included with the advertisement. This is so they aren't sued for false advertising later.

Perhaps if we weren't suing for anything and everything this won't be necessary.

Um...OK...

I get annoyed by the disclaimers at the end of TV commercials the same way some people get annoyed at the sound of people chewing (which doesn't bother me.

In the US they repealed the law against advertising prescription drugs only a few years ago. So in the US you only started to see that particularly egregious example of fast talking (the legal disclaimer equivalent of small print)only those few years ago.

If we went back to outlawing that then that phenom would disappear from the airwaves again.

I dont know if either thing is a thing where Joe lives (not in the US):whether RX drugs are advertised, or not.

Fast talking radio deejays who sounded like squirrels chattering have been made fun of in the US for decades. Though today thats gradually becoming a thing of the past because folks get text messages on their car radios now that ID things like "the title and the artist" of the songs they hear. So there is starting to be less need for verbal speed on the radio.

Yes! I also tell people on the TV not to whisper. I find that immediately unbearable for some reason.

You could always press the mute button on your remote while the adverts are on so you don't hear anything that might annoy you. I do this frequently when I'm watching something. You could also go and make a cup of tea or do something else during an ad break.

Both the fast talking and the adverts themselves annoy me.

That means they accomplished their goal. Annoying you means you noticed. If you noticed you remembered.

As a kid in the 80s and 90s I loved adverts, I can still recite a lot of them verbatim (i guess they're designed to be 'sticky' though). But yes, I can't deal with them at all now. I mute them if I can't skip them.

When I used a radio, the usual sponsors were selling things I didn't want, so I thought the ads couldn't affect me. Then I realized that the usual format was "You are unhappy, and will remain unhappy until you buy this" which was getting to me even though I didn't believe in their cure.

It's not always that easy when the adverts come on every 15 minutes or if someone else is watching the TV.

It's not something that runs my life, I was just seeing if anyone can relate and if it's a misophonia-related thing.

commercials annoy me

I laugh at them sometimes - the more I see an ad, the less likely I am to purchase their product.
