The other day, I had to meet with two coworkers via Zoom for a "Buddy Meeting" with a guy and a gal, this is how it went...

Me: holds up giant rutabaga "I got this at a produce giveaway! It's a hybrid between a turnip and a cabbage!"

The guy and gal start small talking to each other... Boring stuff... Then they ask what bird is in my profile pic...

Me "It's an immature Broad-winged Hawk holding a typical prey item... I took the picture myself..."

Anyway long story short I didn't care about what they were saying, they though rutabagas and Broad-winged Hawks were boring, my aunt thankfully called me and I left the meeting...

I don't even know why I thought the rutabaga was a good idea...

When more than one person is talking I can't get the timing right either, so I kept interrupting them too...

Well, I'm interested in your rutabaga. I actually just had to google it because I realized I had no idea what they look like. How do you prepare one?

Awkward conversations are the worst. I find that I tend to overanalyze them afterwards too.

they are a**holes, they didn't have to say it was boring. a lot of times something that is considered boring by someone is not considered boring by another person. you just have to surround yourself with nice people who are curious about the world :)
