I saw Sinead O' Connor on the Craig Ferguson show a few weeks ago and she really seemed AS to me. She had eye avoidance, seemed socially inept, and stimmed a lot. I can't even remember now what stimming she did (I've slept since then!) but I remember at the time thinking it was excessive. Did any of y'all see that show and think she seemed AS to you?

Yes! Yes! Yes!

Glad someone else spotted it, its not just me who thinks it. Religion obsession, stormy relationships, unvarying dress and hairstyle etc. Lovely vulnerable person, who at the same time you would love to shout at and tell them to cop on and behave normally.

Just out of curiousity, what did you mean "I've slept since then"?

In answer to your question, she DOES seem a bit like she could be autistic. I don't know if I would go so far as AS though.

I just read her Wiki article.

She outed herself as Lesbian in 2000, and soon later she said was not lesbian a year later but she was not really anything at all, that it is not right to box anyone into a particular sexual category. (Look up identity diffusion in Asperger's - a weakened sense of self).

She says she is Bipolar, but recovered (10% of Aspies are bipolar). She is obsessed with religion, and she ordained as priest a few years ago (Mother Bernadette Mary). That shocked people here in Ireland.

I've known about Sinead for years. Its not just me, but several members in my AS social group who think it too. Like its obvious. She talks nothing but religion. Her social life reads like a car crash.

My cousin once tried to say hello to her, he is a really nice guy. She just told him to F**** off. He got the impression that she is not normal.

Steve, when someone says "I've slept since then", it is a slang expression that means that "it's been so long that I've forgotten." Even though I knew what I meant when I said that expression, I had to go ask someone to explain to me what it means exactly, so I'd know how to explain it to you. LOL I'm a dork!

Dave, thank you for explaining all that to me, I appreciate it. It makes it all more clear now.

Watch her in the beginning of this video:

How do I turn the html on? I wanted to embed that video.

BTW yes she is HOT with long hair, but I prefer the short hair/rebel/dyke look though.

Okay I promise, this is the last video I'll mention. (Watch her movements. Is that what is called hand flapping?? I've read that some autistics hand flap but I've never seen it.)

(My husband will come home from work today and see that my newest obsession is Sinead O' Connor!) LOL

She had some flapping in that video. I think people on the spectrum in general hold their hands in a fashion that is odd by NT standards.
Which means even in a still photo you can often notice that stereotypical aspie characteristic.

Like here in a non-posed image of her.

She did a wonderful duet with Matt Johnson of The The on the song Kingdom of Rain from the 1989 album Mind Bomb.

Tell me what you're thinking baby
Your heart's beating faster than mine
And I know something's going on in your life
In your life.. in your life

You were the girl I wanted to cry with
You were the girl I wanted to die with

And you were the boy who turned into the man
Broke my heart and let go off my hand

Our bed is empty, the fire is out
And all the love we've got to give has all spurted out
There's no more blood and no more pain
In our kingdom of rain

You think you know about life
You think you know about love
But when you put your hands inside me
It doesn't even feel like I'm being touched, and

You were the boy I wanted to cry with
You were the boy I wanted to die with

You've moved further from my side, year by year,
While still making love dutifully sincere

But as silent as the car lights that move across this room
As cold as our bodies silhouetted by the moon
And I would lie awake and wonder
Is it just me or this the way love is supposed to be?

Tell me what you told him baby
My heart's beating out of time with my mind
And I know something's going wrong in our lives

I just wanted somebody to caress, this damsel in distress
I just wanted somebody to undress, this damsel in distress
I just wanted somebody to bless, this damsel in distress
I just wanted somebody to possess, this young girl

Our bed is empty, the fire is out
And all the love we've got to give has all spurted out
There's no more blood and no more pain
In our kingdom of rain

The The

Yep, glad someone else picked up on this.
She is a great singer...always had a fondness for her music, and found her very quirky and interesting. Have a book on here. She is in a class of her own really, but yes, I would say there is a strong possibility she might have AS.
I think many do, but until recently, it was just another personality trait...or seen as such.
There never used to be labels for these differences between humans and people just did the best with what they had.

She certainly has the physical features of someone with AS (large eye sockets)
