does anyone start saying odd things and not realize that they were so until later?

For example, I remember explaining to someone how that I thought there were cameras in the lights at school and that they scared me... At the time, this seemed completely rational and it wasn't until later that I realized why the person thought I was strange for saying that... but I still don't know why there can't be lol...

The other day I was talking about how there may be someone living in the basement of my house that might kill you if you walk downstairs... It's funny because it isn't until later that you realize that you werent being "normal" and that you would be thought of as strange for saying the things..

It's not just paranoid things though, but paranoid things specifically do kind of take longer for me to realize that they aren't what you should be talking about. it's part of being OCD i guess...

I also say inappropriate jokes at the wrong time and instantaneously realize that I shouldn't have said them... that may be attention deficit because it's impulsivity...

None of this is related to poor understanding of social situations, it's all like I'm in a different zone at the time that what I say isn't filtered... it just comes out.

it all may stem from the irrational, unlogical thinking that comes natural to me sadly. . like if something doesnt work the first thing that comes to my head is that someone made it not work to piss me off... very few of these things actually do come out, which I'm happy about...

all the time..... i say "stupid" stuff so often as my first impuls for answering things or just initiating conversation on something... i always get odd stares and ppl never know why i say the things i do... i think i mentioned this elsewhere... but it is one reason ppl dont think i seem to have common sense... and is why i try edit my thoughts before saying them... which is something awkward to do in itself

I'm quiet most of the time just for this reason. I don't know how my reactions will be interpreted so I don't say anything.

In the moment reaction and analysis is impossible... unless I can just stop and think... but delays in interaction aren't looked upon too kindly.

It's usually not long after I do something offensive that I realize what I've said... maybe 5 min... but it's much to late to do anything about it.

Yes...I do this quite often.

The other day I was telling a cashier at the grocery store that I think there might be a ghost in my house. I did catch something on film which happened without any logical explanation. Anyway, I started talking about paranormal phoenomonon and in different ways that it can show it's presence.

It wasn't until my Mother told me in the car, that what I said was innapropriate and un-interesting to the cashier, that I realised it.

Now I just keep quiet when doing grocery shopping, and don't talk to the cashiers.

I have mild thought disorder and had no idea until I took a drama class and totally screwed up my lines - I didn't know it until the teacher started screaming and yelling at me for "not memorizing my lines." The rest of the class came to my defense (surprisingly) and told her to lay off 'cause I always said weird things or talked backwards.... this was news to ME!
I still don't know what I do until I get a really negative reaction... then it dawns I must have said something weird.

hehehe, i got the talking thing down (as far as being appropriate, attentive) but I used to always flip out on my friends growing up, over little stuff, i think most grow outa that years b4 i did, could not understand it was bad to flip out on friends all the time, they may stop being your friend, which eventually was exactly what happened.

My friends always refer to this as 'Foot in Mouth Disease'. They're used to it, it happens.
