When I was young, I never got the point of some types of humor. A good example was Mel Brooks movies e.g. Young Frankenstein or Blazing Saddles. At that time of my life, I would say my favorite form of comedy was typified by Monty Python's Flying Circus. Although not in the same category, I can recall having greatly enjoyed the TV show Bewitched.

Now I actually find Bewitched difficult to watch, however I can appreciate Mel Brooks but it feels as though I needed decades of life experience to appreciate his humor, however when I was in my teens and twenties many of my contemporaries were already big fans. Another example is Rowan and Martin's Laugh-In. When it was being broadcast I never thought it was that funny but now I think it is.

I recently discovered that old episodes of the Carol Burnett show make me laugh out loud but back in the day they didn't do all that much for me. BTW I will turn 70 this year.

Has anyone else had a similar experience?
