Yes, I fully know that it’s different for different people. All the same, for me I might pick:

1) intense interests

2) patchy social skills

3) sensory issues

4) stimming

5) meltdowns

What might you pick as the 5 most descriptive?

1) Feeling like death every day.

2) Feeling like death every day.

3) Feeling like death every day.

4) Man, this new interest is really fascinating.

5) I wish I could get to sleep.

Maybe you could get higher quality sleep? But I know that’s easier said than done! :jester:

Diagnostic triad( social struggles, communication struggles, rigid thinking), plus sensory struggles, poor proprioception.

It is interesting that the “diagnostic triad” does not include sensory issues and struggles, which we who live life on the spectrum certainly talk about.

This tells me that even when a mental health professional is trying to be realistically helpful and empathetic and “walk a mile” in the other person’s moccasins, yes, thank you, that’s all good, but . . there still seems to be a pretty big component of understanding autism from the outside looking in.

That means that each of us, the people who supposedly have poor social skills, need to develop quite the set of skills just to matter-of-factly stand up for ourselves.

And hopefully do average or maybe even a little better than average when dealing with professionals of all stripes.
