I recently had to make a custom keyboard drawer and mounting for it. It was complex enough that I had to make a sketch first, and a list of parts to cut. The list then helped check the dimensions planned without the need for scale drawings. I like drafting, too, when it is needed, but a sketch and a list is usually sufficient. I was reminded of many other times I've made such lists and gotten great results, speeding up the work and avoiding errors. When the list is done, I proceed with confidence. I'm also fond of lists for planning trips and what to take. Yesterday, I had to quickly produce a grocery list when not alert, and it was easy to pull up my master list and delete items instead of trying to think of a new list.
