I recently learned about the Flynn Effect. From Flynn effect:
Quote:
The Flynn effect is the substantial and long-sustained increase in both fluid and crystallized intelligence test scores that were measured in many parts of the world over the 20th century.
I think there is a good argument that societal changes have resulted in a real increase in measured IQ, independent of genetics, nutrition and other environmental factors. It would then make one wonder if societal changes have resulted in a real increase in ASD, as well. Here is a blog that discusses this and claims the idea is contentious among researchers: THE RISING PREVALENCE OF AUTISM: LESSONS LEARNED FROM THE FLYNN EFFECT
Makes sense to me that given a hypothetical person with certain genetics, nutrition and other environmental factors, the same societal changes causing a change in IQ could change the AQ of the person.
