I sat down next to people when they were arguing

Today my brother and his girlfriend were arguing while watching a movie. Thinking it would be okay to sit next to them and watch the movie, I did. Then they both became silent and I left soon after.

This was really embarrassing…

Well, at least it worked in making them stop. That could be a brilliant new tactic.

It's just a question of who feels awkward first.
If it were me, I would sit between them every time they argued in my presence and I would make sure that I don't feel awkward.
