I have a new trauma therapist next week, specifically for this reason. I need to find new strategies for self-regulating when I'm trauma triggered. Currently a trauma trigger can last from a day to a few weeks, and I'm sure my ASD intensifies the distress. At present all I can do is cry, self-harm, throw things, swear, rant, or go into deep suicidal ideology.
If it's a sensory meltdown and not trauma related, I can only help myself by getting away from the stimuli, using my sensory toolkit, and waiting it out in a quiet, private place. Music occasionally helps but I can't always tolerate sound.
Is it possible you have auditory and/or visual Misophonia?
