I've been dealing with irritation, anger, and sometimes even rage at work this year. I work as a cashier and supervisor/office personnel at a grocery store. Some days I get more and more angry the more customers I deal with and sometimes I can even feel my blood pressure skyrocketing.
Drinking an energy drink like Monster will bring my frustration back to baseline and I can then get through the day.

I spoke to a clinician tonight, someone with a PhD, via a group session in Betterhelp. She said that my issues are likely caused by overstimulation and I need to look into skills to add to my skill toolbox in order to regulate myself. She also said that the fact that energy drinks calm me down is evidence that I'm on the spectrum, cuz most people (apparently) would not be calmed down by caffeine, but amped up.

Smoking a bowl sometimes helps me, but only if it's not too severe yet.

Expressing my rage addresses it, but isn't really appropriate.

I'm not sure I have much useful advice, but I share this issue with you.

Coffee
Not so much the caffine. But the ritual of finding a quiet space to make and drink a coffee
If I'm allowed to take a break I'll also listen to some music or watch bluey on my phone
It depends though, sometimes I just really need to desensitise so being alone drinking a coffee is enough to help me set the reset button

I'm having the same problem. I have certain music that I listen to, but for me it's a whole album, not just one song, so recovery takes forever.

I have a new trauma therapist next week, specifically for this reason. I need to find new strategies for self-regulating when I'm trauma triggered. Currently a trauma trigger can last from a day to a few weeks, and I'm sure my ASD intensifies the distress. At present all I can do is cry, self-harm, throw things, swear, rant, or go into deep suicidal ideology.

If it's a sensory meltdown and not trauma related, I can only help myself by getting away from the stimuli, using my sensory toolkit, and waiting it out in a quiet, private place. Music occasionally helps but I can't always tolerate sound.

Is it possible you have auditory and/or visual Misophonia?
