Bach Flower remedies can be of use for 'mild' anxiety.

Regarding medication, I take Xanax and Oxazepam. The good thing about those is that I don't have to take them every day - I simply take them as and when my anxiety is bad and I therefore really need them.

If I'm having a bad week (for example) I might take 1 or 2 a day for that week. But if I feel okay for 2 or 3 weeks afterwards, I simply don't take any of them, and I don't get withdrawal symptoms or anything.

If my anxiety were to disappear one day, I could stop taking them immediately without any problems.

I have suffered from anxiety in the past.

I read heaps of books about anxiety and surfed the internet.

I came across a fantastic book in the library called 'The Monster In The Cave .... How to Face Your Fear and Anxiety and Live Your Life' by David Mellinger and Steven Jay.

This book is fantastic and helped me helps.

Also if you're feeling nervy, try going for a long walk/bike ride. Intense exercise helps alleviate symptoms.

I find meditation/relaxation CD's helpful.

In the past I have taken murolax (it's like xanax). I took it for a couple of weeks in 2003 and then for about 6 weeks in 2005.

Since reading the book and using other strategies, I haven't had to go back on the medication.

Good luck.

Acupuncture is powerful if administered by an expert, and also chinese herbs.

Medication such as antidepressants need to be taken for 3 weeks before kicking in. They need not be a permanent crutch; they are out of your system in a few days. The only thing is that you need to come off them slowly.

Good luck. I read your posts often and hope that you feel on top of things soon.
