My friend in physics class who also studies psychology thinks i have asperger syndrome.
I have scored high on the online tests which say that i am very likely an aspie.
But i used to see a psychologist when i was 21 and she said i had a boderline personality disorder.
How will i know for sure ?

Maybe you have both. Many people are diagnosed with 2, 3, 4 or 10 different disorders! :)

Or maybe it's a misdiagnosis... nobody knows you better than you, but on the other hand if a diagnosis is only supposed to assess in a shallow way how you deal with things outside you, then nobody knows you better tahn a shrink, usually.

you mean AS isn't considered a borderline personality disorder? Because I was diagnosed with that, too, and I thought the AS dx was just more specific.

a DX doesn't deal with your life for you.

I think some females with As are missDX with BPD and some DX with AS(or self DXed)are actually BPD.I would not except a DX of BPD from anyone who is not experienced working with adult female aspies. We can have similiar "traits" but the behavior is not as important as what "internally" motivates the behavior.Even the "experts" ar a long way from understanding the internal life of an aspie female.I think some of the conflicts caused by beng an aspie famale can actually "cause" some of the traits of BPD.

I would recommend that you try and see someone who has worked with aspie females but you can do something in the meantime.Break down your "traits" that overlap BPD and AS.Ask yourself what was/is happening to make you act a certain way.

Unstable relationships can be caused by AS trait of having difficulty relating to NT's and understanding their non-verbal communication.

Cutting can be caused by a need to stim, dissociation caused by being overstimmulated by sensory issues.

Drug use.....some aspies use chemicals to bridge the gap to NT's,inable them to interact with them and quit their internal analytical voices which inhibit them "liking" NT's and the things they enjoy.

Sexual promiscuity can be caused by not being able to "read" people and being taken advantage of or just a coping mechanism for avoiding being alone(sex is the one thing aspie females have that seem to out weigh our "weirdness" for many guys)

Not having a "sense of self",or weak ego,can really be trying to be NT,when we are really AS.We learn to "fake" somethings and loss our true selves in the process...that can be pretty confussing when tryng to figure out "who/what" you really are.
