Do you do this? Or have you ever?

For example, I'd do something wrong or embarrassing, and I'd get told off, or embarrass myself, so then I'd do soemthing even worse or more embarrassing to make them forget all about my previous embarrassment. I wasn't thinking of course that that would make it worse... only that it would relieve me of the humiliation of whatever embarrassment I was dealing with right then!

Yes, I have done this on a few occasions.

I do this when I am anxious more than anything.
Sometimes I will say something and people will say to me "thats a stupid thing to say" and then I will say something even more stupid and in the end I make a fool of myself.

Yup, happens every time. But for me its sometimes a slower process, I think a few people put up with me a little longer just because I look normal. It can take anywhere from half a day to a whole day for people to be downright sick of me on average, one time it took a whole week. (That was when I was in Washington) Ive only met one NT that had any patience with me at all, and it was a professional

I never did this on purpose, and rarely do it at all. I HAVE kept quiet while someone ELSE makes a mistake so I can put the pressure on THEM! Also, SOMETIMES people pressure me, against my statements that it is MORONIC, and end up making things worse. They can't embarass me with that. As far as *I* am concerned, it makes me look BETTER when the damage occurs as I predicted, and *I* end up fixing the problem, and sometimes make it BETTER than before.

Doing embarassing things and saying something "stupid" can be quite adorable and charming if you pull yourself into a sense of confidence afterwards. It comes off that you meant to do such a thing, and the ones in your company admire your ability to "make an ass" of yourself and not be phased. :D

I have been told that this is the way the Roman Catholic Church keep their hold on you. Mea culpa, mea maxima culpa (I have sinned, I have commited a great sin). There is of course a better way of looking at this, when you are in a hole then stop digging 8O
