I learned recently that the Hasidic Jews believe when a kid is born with autism they have special powers. Has anyone else heard anything about this? I don't know what their stance on aspergers is but I just thought I'd share this tidbit of information with you debate junkies to see where you take it.

What special powers would those be?

Well, an awful lot of us here have ESP and premonitions and many here have had out-of-body experiences... an insane ratio compared to the ratio in an NT society, I think. :)

OK, I have all of those. I also have some direct communication with the animals, which has been getting stronger lately.

hmmm, i had wondered about that myself. Its possible that many aspies retain a type of innocence throughout their lives. I know i am a perpetual child in my mind. There are just some things i cant wrap my mind around, like competition, lying and stealing to name a few. This may open us up to be aware of things the rest of the world is too busy to notice. Just think how easy it is to focus on one thing at a time for aspies. I have had premonitions before too, and maybe there is a connection. I also had problems for a long time with my watches dying and starting back up an hour after i take them off. Dont know if that is a connection or not. Hmm, maybe we are an evolved species of mankind.

Yes. I have x-ray vision and telekinesis. I can also read minds if I maintain eye contact. Which I can't do because I'm an Aspie and therefore uncomfortable with eye contact. But really, we all have that mind-reading ability, which is why we avoid eye contact. The thoughts of NTs are truly disturbing and listening to them is so traumatic for most Aspies that we avoid eye contact so we don't have to hear others' thoughts. But also because of this, we become entirely unaware of what others are thinking, thus our stereotypical lack of empathy.

I have had one out of body experience (OBE) while abusing cough syrup.
I have the power of deep thought and can focus engeries, maybe anti-matter.
I can "read" people once I get to know a little about them. Almost like reading peoples frontal lobe where the waking mind (consious mind) resides.
We have 6 eye nerves going to our brain, but only 5 senses? What is the 6 nerve for? Look up 6 nerve palsy.
I can talk to animals somewhat. It is really an extension of Pavlov's famous experiments.
I can effect change on the space-time continuum and pluck it like a guitar sting and feel the ripples of change reverberate.

I can influence people and change behavior.

Are these superpowers or just social experiments need for survival?

OK, a real superpowers story.

The day Diana died I woke up in my apartment and instantly knew that something was wrong. I didn't know what, I just knew that something bad had happened. I then turned on the TV and the news about the crash in Paris was all over every channel.

This has never happened since that day ten years ago and I have no explanation.

Creepy huh!!

I am the only adult that can see Totoro

And I’ll be with Totoro, Totoro
Totoro, Totoro
Living in the forest trees
For such a very very long time
There you’ll be with Totoro, Totoro
Totoro, Totoro
I can only see him when im very drunk
A magical adventure for me
It’s magic for me!! !

Here we go again with the thoughts that we are evolved or something, any way you slice it, we're still human like the rest of them. I think what makes people different is the personality, not the layout of the brain x:

Chav, you blew the margins! You can still edit that message to point to a smaller version of that picture.

I seem to have a lot of telepathy when it comes to death too. It seems to me that whenever a friend dies that I haven't seen in a long time, I always think about a memory I had with that person before I find out. You know what I'm sayin?

I'm not familiar with Jewish history, but I think it's likely they were referring to what we call savantism today.
