Link between Hernias and Autism in Women?
Hi everyone. Does anyone know about a possible correlation of congenital inguinal hernias in females and ASD? I can't find any literature on the topic, but I'm reading "Aspergirls" right now and it got me thinking. The author explains that there is an androgynous-ness associated with female autism. And I just learned inguinal hernias as a birth defect in girls should raise a red flag in terms of determining what the child's nuclear sex actually is (XX, XY, XXY...)
I'm a regular XX female who just got diagnosed with autism in my 40's, but I remember puberty is really when I felt how odd I was compared to other girls. A lot of masculine energy came through.
In my gut, I feel like all of these threads are related. Any thoughts or anything to add?
