Mentally ill children

Can a two year old - or a foetus - show symptoms of bi-polar disorder? In America, they think so, and, of course, there are medications for it. There is no doubt some children develop serious mental illness and need help, but it may be going too far. There is a wide range of normal human temperament, and behaviour. Society tolerates few eccentricities. Reporter Jane Shields.

includes discussion of ADD, ADHD, HFA and AS.

Worth listening to IMHO.

i defintly think most americans are over medicated, i mean you can basically go to a doctor and get a perscription that day. there's also alot of commercials for meds here, saying "ask your doctor about blah blah blah" im not saying there bad just over perscribed.

Ever here of Soma,it's Brave New World, indeed.

I think we change our chemistry because it is easier then changing the world. The only way to survive the insanity is to medicate self into coma.Maybe a few less people on Prozac would have been a few less votes for "W" and a little more outrage at this illegal war?

I once found a book that had to do with different cultures - dating back into the past as well, of course thats where they orginate, that had to do with making use of the many unique qaulities in creativity of the personality temperments. I think that its theme is that psychiatry and modern american culture and industrialization has lead people to feel pressured by the damands of our modern age.

I have been thinking about the many side-effects of these medicines etc and I do think that it couldn't be too hard to say at a certain extent that most of peoples' problems are probably because they have been imprinted to think they are defecit because of the lack of freedoms they have and this is so because of their weaknesses in those areas dealing with that.

What I have been doing is that I have been looking for answers for those deficits and know of the brains' ability to learn and adapt but I don't think that I know where else to look anymore. I read a couple of interesting books and I think may want to find other accurate ones probably in the future that has to do with new pharmacological developents and new studies on these disorders.

At the moment, I think that I am just in the stages of waiting for another good book to come - if I am still interested. So far it still is interesting to me.
