For the longest time, I never wanted kids. As I've gotten a little older, if I was to find a really special woman and she wanted kids I may be able to compromise. If having children was the only thing in the way of having a perfect relationship and she is able to prove to me she is willing to grow with me, and help me become the best I could be (I know the description is kind of vague), then maybe we could talk about adopting a child. I'd rather adopt than have one born naturally. However, I could probably only handle raising one child.

I don't want that responsibility, nor would I ever be able to afford to raise a child. I guess it's a good thing, in the end...

I used to say "I don't really want kids, but I really want grandkids."

It used to be regarded as freakish not to have children, but now there's a lot of 'childfree' people around.

That's the 'me' generation, and as a result our population is aging.

I'd love to have kids - so I can pass my experience down to them and play my part in bringing down the average age of our population.

I can't have kids of my own. I can adopt, or possibly donate eggs to a surrogate (which I REALLY do NOT want to do- I don't want to inflict my genetic material on a new life) but I can't accidentally wind up with kids. I just found this out a month ago. The screwed up part? Now, I can think sanely about adoption as a possibility I may want someday when I'm ready. Before I found out about being unable to have children, the idea repulsed me. Reverse psychology? Dunno...

I don't know why, but I wouldn't mind being a father one day... Which is really contradictory to me opinion on sex (it weirds me out, disturbs me).

Maybe I should adopt one day... Who knows...

I think having children is all about 'me' - it's the 'me' generation wanting 'mini-me' or 'more of me'.

The act of having children is one of self preservation, the continuance of one's genes. Very much a 'me' choice to begin with.

It's afterward that the parent must become selfless whilst raising their child.

Heh, 'mini-me'... like Dr. Evil...

I suppose... but my goal isn't to have children to create in my image - that's what society tried to do to me and it nearly destroyed me...

ohhh I think it's just an instinctive thing, a gut reaction Aaron, that need/desire that one's children reflect one's self and values, so uh I admire your sentiments, but ya gotta walk the walk. I think I probably would be hurt or shocked that any of my kids weren't just like me, even though I hated that in my own parents. gah.

Sometimes I address my dogs as 'mini-me', it's very hard to eradicate that feeling in yourself.

I would love to have kids. It's almost sad that AS seems to skip a generation. But It'd be funny to see an NT version of myself. 8O

I definetely want to have kids. It's something I have wanted for a long time. Children are a miracle and a blessing, and a huge part of the life I want to have. I would prefer to have kids the "normal" way, but I'd be open to adoption if that didn't work out. Some of my siblings are adopted and they are no different to me than my bilogical sister.
