It's a bird, it's a plane, it's anything you mold it to be:

So where do ideas come from?

Do they bubble up?

Do they wake you up at 2:00 am in the morning?

Do they appear from the end of a pencil and find themselves on a piece of paper?

Well, have never written any scripts and don't intend to change.

So your feeling is wrong in this case, however, I suspect you don't care about the question posed.

So where do ideas come from?

So where do ideas originate from in the human brain/mind?

Any knowledge?

I can't speak for anyone else, but my ideas come from things I love and things I hate. They also come from my secret desires both conscious and subconscious (in the form of dreams). Sometimes my ideas come from real-life people or events. But above and beyond all else, my ideas are inspired by music and movies.

i remember reading ages ago, about how the discoverer of the structure of the benzene molecule saw it in a dream, as a snake eating its tail.

Science and need drives inventions. It appears many famous inventors were aspies?

Obsession is useful to develop ideas.

At the moment, I'm inclined to believe that an idea (seed) often starts in the frontal lobe, then almost instantaneously spreads (grows) to the temporal lobe (for memories/sounds), to the occipital lobe (to generate a mental image), and to the parietal lobe (to add movements as in dance) - all overlooked by the reticular formation - and the rough edges smoothed out by the cerebellum.

Of course, there are variations to the above (my guess).
