I am not sure if this is an ASD thing. But I will try and explain my best.
People say that the world is a good place, but I don't see it that way at all.
There is so much going on that I don't think many people are thinking about. People are liers, cheaters, bullies and selfish. I walk to my course each morning and can see that everything in this world is just one big lie. The people walking down the road, wearing clothing that is so degrading, but for some reason people think it is fashion. The make up and the way people do their hair is all the same, everyone copying one another just so that they can fit in society instead of being their real selves.
The brands of cars that people drive have all sorts of different stereotypes, such as fords are slow and holdens are fast. So it matters to people what type of car they buy because they don't want to be labelled as "the person with the ugly car".
I'm nopt sure if I have explained this clearly or not...but I feel that the whole world is a lie, and that everyone in it is a follower. Seeing the world for what it really is, a mean and evil place.
Is this an ASD thing? I don't think it is but whats you're opinion....do you feel like this?

Sometimes it is an ASD thing. There are posts on this forum, in the past, that relate to a world perception and the people in it, trying to conform.
Some people also know about some of the cultural influences but, usually, it seems to me, taken in another context. An example is that some people know about the influences of television and that they will discuss it.
This what you are talking about is also a theme in some movies such as "the matrix". Our world in the movie called "the matrix" is described as some kind of "simulation". But it is trying to convey a theme that really does represent things.
One of the representation of this "force" that has a strong influence on the economy, for an example, is capitalism. But if you don't understand that kind of thing, thats okay. There are powerful influences upon the economy.
There are powerful influences upon how we live which these forces are pretty much everywhere.
If you don't really understand the world then that can contribute to a fear of the world.
This really is a theme in society, though. The developement of nuclear technology, for example, makes humans very weary of what other countries are doing with it and if this new technology will fail us in the future because of that we feel its need to be harnessed in the future and that our ignorance in how to keep the technology under control will cause a disaster.
An example of that is the doomsday clock. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Doomsday_Clock
But you were talking more in terms of consumerism. This may be an estimation of things for you, however, because of it being of things based on an influence that you see as a large scale system that contributes to daily life.
The world consists of many systems that shape its developement.
I've just recently been diagnosed. It was depression that lead me to my understanding of me having AS. But I saw the world in exactly the same way as you describe Britany. However, I am learning, that i learn't the art of simulating normality to such an extent, that I trained myself out using my 'autistic hands' and I too was conforming and concealing my deepest nature.
Perhaps the difference between me and many people who are NT is that I have the gift now of seeing beyond the herd and shame of being 'different' and thus free to be who I truly am.
Much love to you Britany

I think most people realize that people in general are quite rotten, but for NT's it's of no relevance, what matters to them is getting what they want out of the world, they're materialistic. We tend to be idealistic on the other hand, and the rotten state of the world is repugnant to us.
Most people can't handle the level of detail and negativity that is out there. So they condition their view of the world. They adopt a level of optimism that is not consistent with the objective conditions. They put on rose colored glasses. But that can sometimes be of benefit - even when it seems like things are bad, if you believe the worst, you will give up or freeze and the chances of doing the right thing drop to near zero.
And there are so many social constructions that exist to validate people - clothes, car design, etc.
We are back in football season and people are painting themselves in their team colors, gathering with their group and cheering, making huge emotional investments in who can better move the football back and forth on the field. If their team moves the football more than the enemy, they will be happy. But if the enemy proves to be better, they will be unhappy. The emotional payoff seems to depend on the emotional investment.

I really can look the world this way but overall I think the world is so great that there's no excuse for me to commit suicide, so I mean no negativiness more possitiviness .. I'm conviced there's not enough time during 'life human time' to break down and be negative ... totally the contrary be positive, I really wished we lived like the 'sequoias' (trees) for an example, to experience more the life and the world ...
The world is built on competition to survive both in human society and in nature, even plant life like those sequoia trees.
For some beings, including humans, the herd instinct is a survival mechanism.
We don't appear to have this or the skills to fit in with the herd and so are rejected and don't do so well in the survival stakes.
Still I agree with starlighter that the act of living is in itself so amazing and interesting that it is worth it.
For me I try to go past the awareness of the world and enjoy my small place in it as much as I can, seeking out things I can do and ignoring others negative reactions as much as possible (for example when in Toronto recently I went to Medieval Times, I got really odd looks being a 40 year old woman there by myself but I had an excellent time watching the show).
