i was thinking about how a lot of autistic people experience the world through their special interest.

i'm curious, have any of you guys had your therapists (talk therapy, ot, speech etc) use your special interests as a "lens" for administering therapy.

(i.e. if you wanted to get better at back and forth conversation, you practice by talking about your special interest. or if you wanted to practice emotional regulation, thinking about how a character from your special interest would react)

if so, how has this impacted your wellbeing? has it helped you achieve your goals/what were these goals?

i feel like a lot of therapy for autistic people works toward doing things in the "socially appropriate" way, so if you have experiences more geared toward wellbeing as an autistic person i'm very interested ! !! ! also very interested in your perspective if you're a women or an adult, because i feel like these groups are usually underrepresented in these conversations.
