Hello.

I Haven't Been On This Site In A While, But Now I Really Do Feel Like I Need To Stop By Here Again. I Have Something I Really Need To Vent About, About How My Parents Treat My Autistic Traits, To Fellow Autists Who Have Supported Me In The Past. (That's You Guys! )

Anyways, Yesterday, My Parents Had An IEP Meeting With My Case Manager At School Along With My Government Teacher. They Didn't Seem Upset There. Well...They Are Upset At Me. They Just Didn't Want To Seem Upset In Front Of My Teachers. Once I Got Home After School, They Had A Talk With Me,And Basically, They Yelled At Me About How I Should Stop Having Anxiety/Sensory Overload Meltdowns Because They're "Manipulative" And Then Went On A Spiel About How Apparently Me Having A Special Interest (That Being Dandy's World) Is "Bad" And How I'm Only Allowed To Pursue This Interest At Home From Now On? My Dad Also Took My Phone For A Week And Won't Let Me Watch Dandy's World-Related Content On The TV For A Week Either. Yes, My Dad Is Taking Away My Special Interests As A Punishment. He Keeps On Telling Me "Use Your Coping Skills" But When I DO Use My Coping Skills, That Being Squeezing A Comfort Plushie, He Gets Mad. He Calls It "Childish". I'm Not Even Allowed To Bring A Comfort Plushie In Public Anymore. I Hate This. I Hate When My Parents Villify Me For Not Masking My Autistic Traits. They Even Said My Teachers Are Probably Secretly "Happy" I'm About To Graduate So They Don't Have To Deal With My "Shenanigans" Anymore. YOU KNOW WHAT? MAYBE I HAVE THESE "TANTRUMS" BECAUSE I'M FORCED TO MASK ALL DAY LONG AND I'VE HAD ENOUGH!! !

Anyways, Uhm, Yeah, Just Wanted To Vent Here. And If You Took The Time To Read This, Thank You.

you are among others who understand. Does your family have a therapist/social worker who can help you all learn better ways to communicate and understand each other? Do you have a therapist who you can talk to about these things?

It seems so frustrating and difficult to think of you not being able to follow your interests at all and to have the things you use to comfort yourself taken away from you or to be shamed over them. No wonder you feel upset!
Perhaps you can all work together to find "something else" which can replace the things they take away and give you similar satsifaction/stimming and comfort.

I hope you all are able to find new ways to go forward from here.

I'm very sorry Dandy. I had lots of fights/arguments with my mom but your parents are waaay worse. Do you have any plans for after your out of high-school :?: You really need to quit living with your parents so you'd have more freedom & independence. I really hope you can have the right supports.

So,.. try to cope with it, rather than fight with it. Having any kind of tantrum isn't your life goal obviously, so you are right in working together with your support network to avoid them. Try to learn form adults instead of focusing on their mistakes. If you focus on their mistakes, you may end up learning their mistakes. But if you look for things they do right, then you can become more mature by learning from others. Even learning from their mistakes. So adopt a coping and growth mindset, not a fight against them one. Fights can alienate your support network. Try to find a compromise and bring them over to your side.
