Two (unimportant) reactions from me:
(1) It sort of explains why high-functioning Autistics often are above average intelligent. Above average intelligence was not a symptom of Autism but rather Autistics with above average intelligence are more likely to be able to function sort of adequately in public.
(2) I heard that the Nazis decided that all Autistics should be exterminated and hired Hans Asperger to test children for Autism so they would know which kids to kill. He pushed back and said they should not kill all of the Autistic kids because there were higher-functioning kids who were useful and should be allowed to live. So his pushing back saved some lives. If he had not taken the job someone else would've and then the higher-functioning kids would've been killed.
