I think the problem here is that we're looking for a social support group for people who have trouble being social.
I mean, which one of us is going to step forward and found a support group like this in our community? Not me. I had enough trouble just deciding to join here. I looked at another site (Delphi?) but it was too much trouble to join. They wanted too much information.
At least here I could lurk for a while before I decided to join.
What we'd need is somebody who doesn't have AS, yet is interested enough and organized enough to find a meeting place, organize a meeting, get the word out and host it.
If there was a support group near me, I doubt I'd show up and if I did, I'd sit in the back of the room, not say a word, and leave half way through.
Not that I don't like you'all. I just think it would be a bit intimidating and intense.
On second thought, with my executive disfunction (I think that's what it's called) I'd get distracted, lose track of time, realize that I was late for the meeting, then decide not to go.
