How come diagnoses never gets removed...

I was told conditions you have been diagnosed with never get removed from your medical records, even if it was a wrong diagnoses or a misdiagnoses and you didn't even have that condition. So if somoone with AS was diagnosed with a personality disorder and he or she didn't even have that condition, it stays in their records even if they did get rediagnosed with AS few years later.
Infantile autism is in my records and will be there for the rest of my life. Same as AS. It pops up on the computers here in Portland when they type in my name at the doctor's office. It shows a list of stuff I have been diagnosed with in the past. And I thought my autistic diagnoses was removed when I was little but then I guessed 'I guess not' when I saw it and I was told by one of my online friends they can't remove diagnoses from records. I wonder why?

That makes me wonder, because when I got mainstreamed I assumed all that paperwork on the schools end would disapear as far as all that was concerned, i tryed to obtain the record years later after graduating, but could not obtain it, so i guess ill never know...

this is interesting, i wonder what others know??? I really wanna know myself.

I know that it is possible to have both OCD and Asperger's, but there are some definate differences between the two which I think are fairly distinct. That said, we feel our daughter has a misdiagnosis of OCD (special interests) and what they also felt was a "rigid sensitive temperment" (all of her sensory issues).

We know people with OCD and even they protested our original dx when they heard it!

When we did get the dx of AS, we went in to the doctor that diagnosed her with OCD (with an advocate) and the Dr. had far too much pride (or lack of expertise in anything other than anxiety) to admit she missed all of the signs of AS that would indicate a more conclusive diagnosis and when writing a referral to a Child Development clinic wrote in OCD, GAD & AS!

UGH!

So frustrating.

It isn't what they KNOW, but what they THINK! I can only imagine some of the garbage that must be on mine. I mean I have gone to the doctors, and at the end of the day found that the first doctor wrote something apparently others could read, and I couldn't.(There should be a law against writing such dreck, and henscratch). I found a former employer lied once about me on a referral! If proven that they did it, they could be subject to severe sanctions. Even if it was true(and this WASN'T), they are FORBIDDEN by federal law in the US to say it. I know some "teachers" had a poor opinion of me and hated me. Oh well, the feeling is/was mutual.

My CREDIT report has several errors! To make matters worse, two of those don't line up in the three agencies, so it looks like the bad marks are twice as bad. AGAIN, illegal, but I can't afford an attorney to fight them, and they don't care that they are breaking the law.

HECK, I just got two letters from the state taxing agency here. One was certified and I didn't get it. OMINOUS! NEVER MIND that I paid them MORE than I owed them, even after interest and penalties! NEVER MIND that they actually sent me a refund check I even have yet to cash! NEVER MIND that they already sent me a letter(even BEFORE I sent still more money their way) saying the "debt" was paid. NEVER MIND that their automated service STILL says I have to pay $0.00 tax and the interest wll be accrued at $0.00/day until I do! NOPE! I have to call them AGAIN tomorrow to see what is going on!

The human race is living in the 21st century with 21st century work ethic/morals(NOT a compliment), and STILL act like they are using EARLY 19th century technology and intelligence. INCREDIBLE!

The sad thing is you can never really tell about a "debt" until like 3 years after the last communication!

I remember that the doctor used to think that my siste rhad a buzz near her heart when she was a baby. She doesn't have any heart defects, but the diagnosis was never removed from her records and years later a school physician asked her about it (she knew nothing about it).

I myself don't remember having been misdiagnosed with anything (ASD was my first psych diagnosis), so I wouldn't know how that goes for me. HOwever, there are many conditions that I used to have but not anymore, that are still in my records.

Well, my heart sound is VERY distinct!! !! MOST go LUB DOB LUB DUB! MINE goes LUB DU****CLICK**** LUB DU****CLICK****! I have an artificial valve, and it is NOISY!(Quiet for a valve, but obvious) One time a nurse came back to listen to my heart. WHY?????? Because she didn't hear the click, and her supervisor told her to try again! Who knows what that buz was! Maybe someone was speaking about BUZZ ALDRIN!
