Imagine a world, just like ours, with the exception that about a million years ago evolution (if you believe in that sort of thing) selected AS to be the dominant trait and that NT became a recessive genetic condition.

What if the world in which we lived today had Aspies as the majority and that every so often, a child was born NT and it was seen as a syndrome? How would the world be different?

Would these eNTies be seen as disabled, disadvantaged, defective? Would they still have their apparently superior social skills or, in a world where the majority think Aspie and not eNTie, would they find that they could not communicate naturally with normal Aspie people? Would their impatience and boldness be seen as strength, or a disorder? Would we pick on them, because they don't analyse and think quite as methodically? Would we think lesser of them for not being able to focus on a single concept at the exclusion of other things, when they flit from one thing to another? Would their emotional attachment and need to continuously talk about unimportant details be creepy and annoying to the normal people like us?

What do you think it would be like, being an NT on the Planet of the Aspies?

maybe in that world scientists would be rockstars and we would all be flying about on rocket propelled scooters.

Rock star scientists, heh, I like that!

Perhaps we'd have higher standards as a species as many people in their chosen fields might be perfectionists.

I know that my socially adept daughter drives me nuts.

First of all, this planet would just have to be called something else because no one on Planet of the Aspies. The word aspie might not even exist until there are difference that the find within themselves; then they would what makes them different from the few so they would call themselves "NT" and the others any number of names named after people who discovered them. They would all be NT, it's all relative. On earth, because the majority of people are NT and the minority are aspie or another disability, aspies are called aspies; but on Planet of the Aspies, aspies would be the majority and NT's would be the minority therefore making the NT's on planet of the aspies THE ASPIES, or maby paspies or laspies... lassies.....

Also the whole social environment in the animal world would be different too.

According to Temple Grandin, the farm animals she was raised with could very well be considered aspie. In fact all animals on this planet could be considered aspie, at least feral, or non-domesticated, animals.

Take a spider for instance. It's always focused on the details of its project, i.e. spinning web, food. All non-domesticated animals are focused due to their instinct though, not through any concious effort.

So, all these animals on the planet of the aspies would be the opposite that they were on Earth making them all inclined to spend quality time with each other, talking about the latest Britney Spears looking spider.

The point is, if a point can actually be seen from such a silly example, that both traits, aspie and NT are necessary, for the survival of a species. Unfortunately for aspies, NT characteristics are dominate because of their efficiency in the world we live in.

So, back to the Planet of the Aspies. Psychologists would analyze these NT's for years trying to figure out why they are more interested in someone's facial gestures and how it affected them then String Theory or Microbiology. They would try to understand why they talk so much and are so easily distracted. Eventually the psychologists, which are NT on Planet of the Aspies (aka aspie on planet Earth) would figure out the source of the problem and why the NT do what they do, because the psychologists have aspie traits that allow them to focus on their problems and solve them.

What about the Planet of the Aspie's relationships? Would they be better on a planet full of aspies or worse? Let's start creating a Planet of the aspies... in our mind first and find out!! !

If aspies were the predominant group of humans in the world... let's see...

1) Modern nations would not be anywhere near what they are now. Rome would have never established such a large empire, meaning that there would not be any of the european nations that would rise from the ashes of the roman empire. Instead, nations would probably unite to form one huge global government by the time the middle ages set in. By the 1700s, we would have flying cars, regular space travel, and 500 gigabit ethernet... By 2000, we would have had colonies on alpha centauri, and maybe even warp drive...

1a) Because of the large change to history, none of us would actually exist to see this...

2) Socialist wouldn't be a political party, but the term for what we currently see as NT's (I actually do call overly NT people socialists, but not in reference to the political party, just the fact that they are overly social...)

3) The educational system of such a nation would be drastically different, probably an elementary school level, but then after that there would be apprenticeship-style programs that used to exist a long time ago, allowing people to choose what field they want early on, probably based on the obsessions they have.

4) Advertising would be almost non-existant (or at the very least not as emotional as it is today), as AS people don't respond to advertising as much as socialists do...

5) Poverty, disease, and war would all be removed from human culture...

6) Unfortunately, many great works of art would probably not exist either, as unless an aspie has an art obsession (i.e. one of my current obsessions is photoshopping stuff...), there wont be that many people interested in producing art...

Everyone diagnosed with Neurotypicality would inevitably be locked up in zoos. They would be kept in numbers in big cages, were aspies would take their aspie children, paying big bucks, to watch such exquisite and enigmatic creatures socialize and make small talk. There would be signs on every cage that reads "Do not attempt to socialize with the NTs, they might misinterpret your actions and words."

Oh and, small talk would be the object of much study by aspies, not to use it themselves, but to understand how something to irrelevant and meaninglessl can be so important to this human subgroup.

Well i have my own prefect Aspie world in my head here is the basic ideas.

The goverment would have no fixed leader but instead consist of people voted by there fellow peers in specialist fields like law and such to goven the world no one person would have complete power this would elimate people abusing there power which aspie people are less likley to do.

The currency would be non existant as everyone would work for the greater good of the world and everyone benefits science and art pursuits would be further encouraged with education systems and apprentship courses to keep knowledge levels high and to further increase science.

I would also want the aspie world to move into space as space is the future but we must also try to rpeserve the world we live on as it would be the aspie homeworld. NT people would be treat the same way we are treat as a minority group we would suport NT people but they would have to work for the planet to gain a citizenship and would be refused to be allowed in the senate of elders which would run the world Aspies only LOL

Basicly a aspie world would idealy be free of hunger, poverty, war famine and other nasties we have in our current world though i would want weapons design and creation to be allowed but controlled in case NT people had a upriing or hositle aliens would attack us

In addition to above i would also want reserch into the NT genes and observe NT people to see how they work and develop in make a cure for them as they seem determined to cure us now and get rid of autism according to what one of me uni tudors said once

"the sooner they destroy dirty and defective genes such as autism the better the human race would become" i almost though i went back in time when the nazis were doing such things as wiping out people with supposed defective genes.

I was thinking this same subject over the weekend.

An aspie psychologist would list the following symptoms of being a NT.

-Have difficulty going out to eat alone
-Can't go out to the movies alone
-Spends alot of money on clothes, cars, makeup but can't be bothered to set a budget and therefore they forget that food is more important.

-Lack of tolerance towards people who refuse to go shopping, dinner or the movies with them
-Talks too much about their social life to the point that they have difficulty speaking about other subjects. Have limited interests with only these subjects but makes it seem like it is a broad interest but it really isn't because they refuse to speak about other subjects like music, science etc..

-Has difficulty not talking on the cell phone while driving, while shopping, while crossing the road, while in restaurants, sometimes a NT on the severe end of the spectrum has difficulty not talking on cell phones during movies too.

-Has difficulty fixing their own problems. Difficulty fixing computers or most malfunctions around the house. Instead of taking the time to do this, the NT will instead get frustrated and make someone else do it for them. After the person fixes THEIR problem, in return the NT will talk to one of their friends badly about the geek that just arrived and the ugly shirt the geek wore completely disregarding that that geek just saved them from the overwhelming issues they couldn't fix.

- Does not take the time to notice things around them. To a NT, someone who does take time to notice little things or even big things that the NT did not take time to notice, it makes that person strange. I think this is to make the NT feel more secure about feeling dense at that time.

-They refuse to wear the same pair of jeans or clothes two days in a row hence making life more difficult for those who want to go camping. The NT will lash out if they cannot have makeup, feel they need to pack more than needed for a trip and have their weeks worth of latte as well. This makes life more difficult for others who must put up with this disruptive behavior.

-They have problems staring

It would need a name, like Aspergia, or asperania or Astopia,, scratch that last one
People would be less chatty and it would probably be a really peaceful and quiet place with special areas designated for essential noise. I kind of liken it to the Peaceful tribe in the Dark Crystal. A lot of work would be done in less time, providing that it is interesting. Specializations would be off the map and everything would have a soft, fuzzy coating.. Communication would be more factual and to the point, instead of political jargon. Fashion would be in favorite colors, comfortable and soft. Like a fuzzy pair of coveralls. Cotton stocks would be high and polyester would not be invented. ahh, i dont think it would be the same without a few NTs.

Oh man... Planet of the Aspies.. This HAS to be turned into a movie

I pity the fools who can't go out to the movies alone. Also the fools who waste their salaries on things they don't need and then whine about being broke.
