I do realize that I am going against the grain when I pose this question, but are you impulsive? Quick to make decisions, take actions etc?

Over the years I quickly realized it was near impossible function, living as indecisive as I have always been and every opportunity I got I immediately placed ALL decisions on others.

This never actually worked well for me either. I found I attracted quite alot of bad company by simply being me. I found that my inability to find comfort and confidence in my ability to make sound decisions, gave the impression that I was both weak and passive, which in turn brought me MANY abusive, manipulative creeps in my time.

Over time, I decided to change what I was doing, but still, without confidence...I became an extremely impulsive decision maker.

Still to this day, at 30, I am amazed at my inability to find comfort in deciding between baked potatoes or mashed, uptown or down, movie in or out...*sigh* But I have also found myself in many situations where I really could not care less, just so long as I am not making the final decision...

and then, when I do...WATCH OUT! I am on fire!

anyone else?

I am the most indecisive person in the world. It takes me hours to make a decision, even if it is just what I am going to have for lunch. This is one of the reasons I suck in the workplace.

I don't like making decisions about minor things that have no right/wrong or concrete reason. If it's a situation of importance, I'm very efficient. I consider the facts and make the best decision as quickly as needed or possible based on the information I've got. Logical, simple, comfortable.

Which color shoes to buy? You're looking at a week-long event. And don't even think about asking me what restaurant! I much prefer the little decisions are made quickly, for me, by others. My mind is set up for working out bigger, more important things with ease. I crumble on the small stuff.

As for impulsivity, eh. Not really.

i have both a big impulsive streak, and a tremendous difficulty in making any decisions, especially everyday decisions... i think that's why i am impulsive at times because i just CAN'T THINK anymore and MUST just act without thinking, because to THINK is to never ever actually accomplish anything tangible

oh, and yes, with guys especially.... this conversation has happened to me TWICE:

guy: hi.
me: hi.
guy: my name is _____ wanna be my girlfriend? you're cute.
me: ok. sure.

(one guy lasted 2 months, one guy lasted 3 years.)

I don't think I could be impulsive if I tried. I overthink everything. Even things that are so-called "impulse buys" on the Internet are related to my interests. Very often, I read the same book at the library and ordered it on the Internet to keep as my own.

I over-analyze the hell out of everything also.

But at times, I find that in order to save myself the humiliation of being "taken" one last time or seemingly give way to everyone else's needs ALL of the time or waste time spending hours contemplating, I often through caution to the wind and run with it.

Yes, alot of my impulsive decisions are based around those things that interest me the most, but man! it is exhilarating at times and well, other times let truth be known...I make some pretty awful/impulsive decisions!!

When I get depressed I get impulsive and do something extreme, like a shopping sprre or a thread-starting spree, for a very good reason-- I will die and go to hell if I don't get stimulation right now!

I get very impulsive when my mood is UP ( not very often ! )

I can recollect putting loads of things in my shopping trolley only to have a moment of clarity ( or panic attack ) and then just leave the trolley in the isle and walk out without spending a penny ! !

I am impulsive about the small things (like buying stuff!) but completely the opposite over major decisions like relationships or careers.

Sometimes if I resist the impulse to buy something, I'll carry on obsessing about it & eventually make another trip to go & buy it. So now I just buy it......

I tend not to be very impulsive at all. I also typically let other people make the decision with a "it doesn't matter to me" comment thrown in. Not sure this is an aspie trait or not. Just the way I am.
