Maybe we should stop badmouthing NTs

Some Aspergeans from this forum have described NTs as individuals who tend to make broad sweeping statements and often communicate their ideas even before they are done thinking them through. They have also been described as being illogical and emotional.

Those are sweeping generalizations.

The problem is that since some NTs are dumb, we have grown accustomed to associate NTs with idiots. Let's be logical and remember that not all NTs are dumb; some are actually very intelligent and can think logically.

(It's good to know that aspies, by definition, are not dumb.)

Who should we badmouth then?

Er, stupid question . . . but then again, I just joined. What does NT stand for?

When I refer to NT's, I'm usually refering to certain types but I don't express it that way. My guess is most people here when referring to NT's may not be talking about all NT's, just certain types or a percentage. However, I would prefer not to start saying "I think 16% of the NT population are...whatever."

The thing with me though is my problem is chances are the people who have been mean to me or made fun of me throughout my life are probably NT's, in general. So, when and if I do badmouth them, it's those people who come to my mind, or the ones who are just complete a-holes. In my opinion, it's justice, it makes me feel better. It's not nearly as bad as the way I've been treated by them. When the NT's who are a-holes stop being a-holes, I'll stop badmouthing them. For all I know, I could be badmouthing an Aspie who I think is an NT.

And what I meant is that that is how it appears to me, being someone with AS. It's also how my psychologist described NT's... Maybe you should go picket outside her office, even though she's an NT.

I guess it was hard to take what I said out of context in the actual thread I posted in as people could just scroll up and see what else I said. So you started a new one.

Course, then if you're making categories of people, you also have to include the artsy NTs, which is just an entirely separate topic . . . and those I have almost no problem with (for the most part).

I guess we're just more sensitive to poor logic and unfounded conclusions and get more easily annoyed by it. The 'jumping-to-conclusion' is, I believe, an NT trait that links to their increased 'central coherence'.
