One of my special interests is fading away, soon to be known as past and not current. I have been fortunate that this has not happened to me a great deal, but this particular one, I will miss greatly.

I feel sad because it has been such a huge part of my life for years. Now when I get the things out which relate to this special interest, the magic is gone  And this has happened so suddenly too, practically overnight.

I had so much fun with this interest and I desperately want it to continue but I suppose, as will often happen with a special interest, it will be taken over by a new one.

Any suggestions on how to revive a fading special interest, or do I just let it go and remember it fondly?

Gosh, this sounds like I'm saying goodbye to a friend who is going overseas or who has passed away. But for me, this has comforted me and been something I could delve into when I was feeling stressed or overwhelmed or needed some inspiration to keep going with my university study.

Aw, fading interests suck. And it really sucks being stuck in limbo between interests without something to cling onto yet. What is it, if i may ask? I know that with my reptile interest, it seems to get more energized when i get a new kind of snake or something. I also think that getting a new reptiles magazine each month is kind of exciting and usually has some species or something i didn't know much about yet in it, so it keeps it interesting. I guess it depends what the interest is, but maybe if you can find a way to broaden it to some new related stuff it could keep it interesting to you, so that it's still in the picture.. or you could find a new website, book, or magazine related in some way to it to learn something new and fresh.

I had a special interest that faded nearly three years ago, and than it came back, with a vengence, in late September. I'm not saying what it is, though. People have to guess. :?:
