I strongly believe that i have SAD which is called Seasonal Affective Disorder...every time of the year around autumn
i start getting very moody and emotional...instead of sleeping the 4 usual hours a day i now have to have 10 or i feel like crap...
i eat tons of sweets and caffine and only work out half the time i usually do....i have been trying to pull myself out of this slump over the last month and have been pushing myself to keep a daily routine and shower shave brush teeth, go outside, excercise and that kind of stuff on a daily basis....im not sure if anyone out there has similar symptons but if so i was just curious to see if those whom have this do anything special to get over these lethargic times

Fall is best for me because of the cooler temperatures but the ground isn't soppy yet and there are flowers and bright leaves and I can work in the garden without heatstroke.

But my son.... He tends to disintegrate every fall. I notice he is posting gloomy poetry on his myspace.

Not sure that I get SAD, and I lived near the arctic circle for 5 years. That is serious variation in daylength. I do get cluster headaches (aka 'alarm clock headaches) only in summer, and they occur at precisely the same times every day - usually at night while sleeping.

Light therapy can help with SAD. Another study found that sleeping next to an ionizer is also good for SAD. And herbalists recommend St. Johns Wort, which is considered a solar herb, and modern herbalists call an anti-depressant.

i dont know... right now, im super-depressed and do we have beginning autumn here. but then, i like a lot of things about autumn, and winter by far is my favorite season. i have reasons to be grumpy in spring (people being all in your face with their pseudoromantic newborn-ness) and more than enough in summer (s**t temperatures, people dressing in ways they shouldnt do and therefore hurt my eyes). just as well, there are aesthetic pleasures to be found in almost every season.

its a bit too easy, i think, to link up my current mood to the seasons. i could be grumps because its autumn. i could as well be calmly pleased by the somber melancholy of the death ballet nature performs.

I really love all the seasons. Fall is so beautiful - almost as great as spring. 8) It's just the shorter days that gets me. I am affected most in Jan. and Feb. since it seems to get so gloomy here.

The seasons don't affect me emotionally.

I thought SAD had to do with lack of light and being indoors a lot, with an added social pressure of impending holidays that may stress you out. San Diego wouldn't really have those issues at this point, would it? I mean I got cuckoo in Indiana because there was like 4 hours of daylight [/slightexaggeration] and it was often too cold to be outdoors. Heater-air eats your brain.
I haven't lived with daylight savings for some time and I have noticed that those who do, really are affected by the time change. Maybe adjusting your access to daylight would help.

I work at nights for the last 2 years but i have been experiencing this for about 7 years. Even in San Diego the weather gets colder and it actually rains more during the colder months when it rains. I dont think its more the dramatic change in the weather but moreso the noticed change in the atmosphere and amount of light.

We're at the same latitude, I think (I'm in Tucson) but we don't have daylight savings. So, the change of light started a month ago and is really gradual. But we don't get the rain in winter, at all. That's why people come here in droves. It's very sunny and temperate. Come over for Xmas and see what you think.

I used to have that problem.
Especially after the summer was over i'd really have this bad feeling.
I've always hated wet,grey,cold weather.
These days i don't mind it so much.
I just have this awsome feeling when it's summer.
