Descrizione

That's great!! ! :o :D It's a pity I can't read Italian. Will there be an English translation? And can you tell some more about your book - is it like an autobiography, or about a fictional character? Is it about a specific part of your life (or the main character's life) or more about living with autism in general? What kind of plot does it have? Or is it not so much like a novel, but more like descriptive of autism in general? I hope you don't mind all the questions, I'm just really curious. :D

It's short. Nothing fictional. In the first part are recollections of my childhood mainly during the war. Once I was convinced that we (me and my family) were going to be shot as suspects of espionnage. Then we wondered in the countrysides trying to cross the "lines" (the Gothic Line) in a wood with shells falling around and machineguns in operation. Nevertheless it was not the worst period of my life. I also had a Jewish gramma who was in hide and I had to be speedely "converted" to Catholicism. There were all these tensions which did not add up to a serene atmosphere in my family. But it took half a century to understand where the real problems were for me and in the second part of the book I briefly explain how it is to have to earn a living, being autistic with no one knowing what autism is. Trying to understand my life I read some 10,000 pages of psychoanalitic literature and for this reason my enmity for Freud and disciples is absolute and deadly.

Congrats, Paolo! :D I'm writing a book about my life with AS, and I'm trying to get it finished by the end of the year. My counselor has been pushing me to do it for a long time. So I've set it as a goal, and we'll see what happens. Seeing your success has really inspired me. Thanks.

Your book sounds like it'll be a fascinating read. :)

I am beginning to read more about Bruno Bettelheim. Given your enmity for Freud et al., I'm sure you're more than familiar with him.
