OK, something "fun" for you to analyze (as in, it's fantastically neurotic/anal), which is actually true about me but which I understand the "real" resons for anyway:
All of the clocks in my house are accurate, BUT the alarm clock in my bedroom is 30 minutes ahead. Additionally, I always wear a watch- WITH an alarm- and there is at least one clock in every room of my apartment. In the kicthen, there's two, a wall clock and the microwave.
I have a measure of cynicism about 'psychoanalytic theory', since it is so symbolic and loaded with metaphors, that you can make of it almost anything you want to.
That makes sense: 30 minutes ahead means you get that precious 1/2 hour lie-in each morning. It is a ruse, a clever plan, but it certainly makes getting up more bearable.
If I ever make an appointment on time, then it will only be on the basis of having twice as many clocks as you have mentioned.
