Why do nicknames or labels such as Emu Egg or Yellow-Bellied Woodpecker appear below your username just above your avatar? Is there some sort of a classification system that goes by how many messages you have posted? I've been rather curious about this.

Yeah... It's based on the number of posts you've made.

I'm upset, I've recently lost my clasification of "raven".

I quite like the bird theme. I've been in other forums where there are post counting categories. It doesn't bother me but it can get a bit tedious when people start bragging or complaining about how quickly/slowly they reach the next level. In the great scheme of things it doesn't matter, but it does give all readers an instant visual clue as to how active (or new) the posting member is.

By the way, when do we get to the stage that we can set our own? It seems to be around the 1,000 post mark. Is that right?

Mine means that I am a lover of words.
I also love cats, especially my own useless bundle of black fur, aka George or Little Guy.

I guess its some kind of rank. As you post more you become a bigger animal/bird.

I don't remember where it was but there is a list of the rankings (the number of posts it takes to achieve them) somewhere on the site.

Isn't "tucan" supposed to be spelled "toucan"?

My title comes from the fact that I am often one of the first people that many on here come to for advice.

Hi, Tim,

I just Googled it. Apparently, both spellings are correct.
