Who could go for some lab grown burgers?

Seriously, I think this is a great way of manufacturing meat without having to turn the rainforest into grazing land or kill animals. Think about it...

Well, I wouldn't want to eat it.

Besides, that isn't good enough. They need to also find a way to make lab grown milk, dairy products, and eggs, all of which will taste as good as the real thing, in order to do away with animal farmign and meat production.

I think growing meat in labs is an awesome idea.

Animal activists know all too well what conditions chickens and cows which are destined for consumption, live in. So animal cruelty would be greatly reduced.

Once the technology has been refined, growing meat in labs would probably be a lot cheaper. This is an advantage both for capitalists and those who look for more effective ways of fighting famine.

Some people would undoubtedly find that they preferred the taste of "real cow", but regular meat would still be available so long as there was a demand for it, it would just be a little more expensive.

When are we going to have the food pills? You know, when for dinner we will take a pill that has all the vitamines and nutrition of a steak dinner? Forget growing meat, get back to work on the food pills!

Would vegans eat this kind of meat? It appears the tissue is orignally taken from actual animals, but then it is grown on a synthetic (?) membrane and stacked, layer of cell upon layer of cell; so the cell growth continues off an animal.

Maybe eventually farmers will be able to cultivate meat plants! Vegans eat plant matter.
