This is one of the few chances I get to come here, and then everything stops loading. Stops, yes, everything. Not a single topic well work right now, and this has happened more than once. More than twice. More than it should be happening. I'm tired of hearing explanations. I don't want answers, I want action. With all the computer smart people on this site, this problem should've been fixed a long time ago. I'm sorry to sound rude, but it's because I really enjoy this place and would like to continue staying here.I won't stay if this isn't fixed.

I've had some threads that were important to me not load, but I'm not going to quit. I agree with you about someone figuring it out by now. Does anybody know if Alex has done anything to address the problem?

I experience this, too. Its really ridiculous. I think somebody needs a faster server with more bandwidth (looks at WP's owners). They have a good thing going, but its hard to enjoy when people have problems connecting to the site. In my case, half the time it doesn't work.

That has happened to me before too, but not recently.

Yeah, I know what you mean; it doesn't mean that you should leave though. I remember I couldn't get on for a few hours because of the webmaster's space didn't have enough bandwith or something; it was weird.

Have you found us a sponsor?

Alex is paying for this site out of his own pocket, less whatever revenue he gets from advertising (which probably isn't much). I sent him some money because this site means a great deal to me and I want it to stay online. If you haven't done the same then you have no right to complain.

I agree; maybe WP could set up a fund to help keep up WP, so Alex doesn't have to pay for it all himself. Of course, it should be optional. And, I do agree that people shouldn't necessarily be complaining because of the site, since there are lots of people on here, so it requires lots of commitment and organization.

I agree with Jetson. If one is not paying for it or helping in some function, one should not critacize those who are.

I sent Alex a small $ amount shortly after I signed on as this site is important to me. I will send a small amount annually. I consider it a subscription of sorts.

Alex listed his address for people interested in mailing him $$. I beleive it is in the thread called "calling all WP members" and is a sticky thread at the top of this forum.

Jetson is absolutely right. Of course, I would like WP be moved to a better and faster server, and I would gladly contribute money if necessary, because this site means a lot to me. For those whose only reaction is to threaten to leave - you are free to do so at any moment.

I thought we fixed the thread problem. Anyway, I believe it was/is a software problem. I haven't experienced the problem since Zend was upgraded after we moved to a new server.

Oh, btw, I'm setting up a PayPal bank account to allow donations online.

Also, as many of you might have noticed, we exceeded the monthly bandwidth allowment on the 9th of this month. We're going to have to start paying a lot more for extra bandwidth now that the site has grown so fast. We used to never exceed the bandwidth allocation in 30 days much less 10.

But, the problem will be fixed more quickly. I am going to go about upgrading the forums system today to try to remedy the problem. The problem with running a site like this is that it is hard to fix a problem without the site experiencing downtime.

I reckon this is by far the best aspie site on the net so must admit that i get annoyed when the bandwidth is exceeded or something takes ages to load. This isnt usually the case however and since the membership is growing all the time (putting pressure on the sites loading and bandwidth) and Alex is partly paying for this out of his own pocket (not to mention the work put in) then im willing to put up with the odd minor inconvenience without getting too upset. Anyway were is anyone going to leave to? I have yet to find an aspie site that is as friendly or half as good imo. Despite this there is always room for improvement so i hope the mods dont get all defensive over people leaving feedback even if you they dont agree with it because the easygoing nature of this site is what made it so popular imo.

I have an idea if the problem is server/bandwith relayed. Aren't their programs that allow you to share stuff with other computers/servers? I have a computer that I never use that a friend said would make a decent server. Hmm...? I'm kind of ignorant when it comes to bandwith, etc.

It is something i'm working on. If I had a team of programmers at my disposal, it might be easier.

All WP users,

The problem may be fixed now. Please check your problem threads and if there still is a problem, please report which thread it is to Alex or myself. We may ask you to help us in finding the problem however.
