Good news for those that are interested in helping Alex defray the expenses of running WP. Alex has included a support page at:

http://wrongplanet.net/supporters.htm

You have the option of choosing the level of support you want/can afford, how you wish so send Alex the money, and whether you want to show your support.

Please note that you are not required to make any payments to use WP. It will be a help to Alex however to defry expenses as the site expands.

Thanks for posting this, bouchard. Hopefully I will be able to raise enough money to improve WrongPlanet.net and allow it to continue to grow.

You can also send a donation amount of your choice by clicking the white "Make a Donation" button. Doing this will still allow you to display one of the supporter levels. You can also ask to be anonymous.

PERFECT!

Now, could we either sticky this tread so I can find my way back to it or make it VERY easy to find from the home page?

I will create a link to the donate page in the menu on the left.

I really hope to raise enough money to purchase a dedicated WrongPlanet.net server. However, the donations in the mean time may be used for development costs, hosting, hiring graphic designers to help create a more elegant user interface, possible new software purchases to get a better user experience, and maybe even hardware, depending on our needs.

I really think we can make WrongPlanet.net an even better resource and community for Aspies and others who feel like they're on the wrong planet, but I need your support! If you don't have money, you can donate your talents, especially if you know PHP.

I'm thinking about giving an email account [email protected] to those who donate. What do you guys think about that idea?

It's a cool idea, but how would we access it? POP3, IMAP, or only via a web form?

pop. And you can use mail2web.com to get pop3 when you don't have a client to access your pop3 email. Also, we have a squirrelmail web based email checking app. But it might just be better to do a forwarding thing where you could forward it to another account. You would be able to choose tho.

OK, we've gotten one donation so far! Woohoo!

One reason why a check may be better: PayPal takes away a fee for transactions. For instance, a 15 dollar donation will end up being 14.11 dollars after paypal steals its 89 cent transaction fee.

Alex, US$100 is way too much, as is US$15

i was thinking US$0.01 or US$0.00

they sound more appropriate :D

Why would this be a joke?

Alex has to pay for the site. Its grown so much that he ran out of his broadband limit by the 10th and had to purchase more.

He's not requiring it, only asking those who are in a position to chip in a bit to do so.

I'd rather send a small donation to him periodically then wade though a ton of ads.
