Please elaborate on what you mean by banning your head. Are these sporadic, spontaneous banings? Or rhythmic, reparative bangings that follow a beat? Or both? [I’ve had urges to do both.] What causes the banging? A need to bang, whereby the banging relieves the need? Frustration? Something else?

Maybe stopping is not the solution; bang your head on things that will cause no harm, like a pillow towards the softer side, or a punching bag on the harder side.

Good fortune,

People do gently bang their forehead with the heel of their hand, when they do something dumb.

I'm assuming "Your" is stimming. I've certainly heard of younger children stimming by banging their heads repeatedly, but not generally adults. I imagine if some kids do it, some adults do also, though. No solutions, I'm afraid - a pillow seems the best idea.

I keep banging my head too... against a brick wall, metaphorically speaking.

Sorry, don't mean to be flippant. As mmaestro says, having a pillow handy sounds like a good idea if it's a physical problem.

I used to do this in high school...but learned to do other things when I was threatend with having to pay for all the damaged lockers, desks, glass cases, etc... if I was bored, left alone or stressed I'd just wack my head against anything handy. Good thing I've a hard head. :)

How to stop? The only way I've ever found to stop any of my stimming for good was to modify it. Instead of banging my head... I'd snap my fingers or slap my thigh or roll my neck... over time I've modified most of the obvious stims down to much less obvious ones that if I'm careful can be covered up or passed off as something else.

If I get reaaally mad I may bang my head. Between times I have morbid thoughts of banging my head.
When I was a very young child I was a pathological head banger. I had to be rushed off to the hospital after injuring myself on several occasions as a young child from say banging my head on concrete paths in frustration or during meltdowns.

I bang my head with my hand when I am stressed. It really hurts. Usually, my head injuries are caused by my spatial misjudgement.

Overview of Neuropsychiatric
Lyme Disease

Spatial or Geographic Orientation problems: For example, patients may bump into the door jambs; go to place an object on a table only to see it fall to the floor due to a misjudgement of spatial distance; get lost in a familiar place.

i love banging my head. i had an obsesion with banging my head on this white door at my old house when i was younger. i used to do it so much my head bled and when people treid to stop me id just bang my head on a pillow at when i was in bed. i think i like it not because of the pain, but on impact my head is totally clear of stresses or images/colours, which doesnt happen when i sleep.

dont think of head banging as a bad thing, just make sure you dont hurt yourself like i did

steff xx

Avoid that which initiated it.

I use my mattress as I lie down, it's better than a wall.

When I was a kid I used to bang my head against the door to let my parents know I was having a seizure and it was the only way I could "call" for help. Or maybe I should say alert them to the fact I was not well.

My mom said I banged my head against the crib when I was a baby, but no idea why I did that.
